For the 3rd time this season, our First Grade side was unlucky to be washed out when in a commanding position. On day 1, Waratah were sent in to bat on a green seamer by Hamilton-Wickham (2nd on the ladder), and were struggling early at 5/52. A massive innings from Jonty Durrheim (127) led an impressive fightback, and the tail wagged to post 296. Jonty's 6th wicket partnership with Aron Tisher (17) of 70 was crucial, before a 7th wicket partnership of 117 with Josh Brackenbury (52) put us in a commanding position going into the last session of the day.

Once dismissed, Hamwicks were left with 7 overs to negotiate, and Aron (2/8) and Jonty (1/5) backed up their batting efforts to leave the visitors reeling at 3/17 at the close of play.
